Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” - Matthew 16:24
Following Jesus is not as simple but also not complicated as we have made it, rather - it is a profound, mysterious, and delightful path that can lead us in so many directions. And that direction is both individually and collectively filled with other image bearers. Saint Domonic de Guzman said,
“We must sow the seed, not hoard it.”
Living this out means we follow Jesus in such a way that we would walk in liberation but that others would too. That our access, knowledge, growth, understanding, privilege, questions, processing, and denying ourselves would be things that are water us by His Word and seeds that bear fruit that blesses other people.
Will you be a sower who deny’s yourself, takes up your cross, and follows Him and Him alone?
This is our theme for Sowers summit 2025. An annual conference in new york city for women and men of God to come together for the purpose of glorifying God, learning how we can make local impact in our life, and experiencing internal freedom.
At Sowers Summit we worship in different languages and genres, we are intentional about community and reflection time, we create space for different spiritual practices and topics, we engage in practical application, and we are all about prayer and God’s word in mindful, theologically sound, and challenging ways to ignite us to be more than hearers of His word, but sowers of it.
Join us for Sowers Summit 2025 - come get poured into, equipped, and ignited as you follow Jesus and lead others to do so the same for collective liberation.
(p.s. we know the language of ‘denying ourselves’ can be negatively triggering for some - perhaps because this scripture was used to manipulate, confuse, use you, or something else that’s harmful. At Sowers Summit, our heart and one of our commitments is to help you unlearn and heal from bad theology and walk the rest of your days with good theology that is reflects the true Jesus. So we’ll be touching on this these words and topic at the conference, from the pulpit to the pews, to bring clarity and wholeness to what Jesus meant by those words for all of us.)
